NEWS ITEMS (Alphabetized by Creator's last name or Company name) CHAOS COMICS Insane Clown Posse has a new CD called "Bizarre, Bizarre" coming out for Halloween w/artwork done by Chaos. Their action figures should also be available in October. Chaos is working to add SIX more Rock-and-roll properties to their comics line in the next year, yet none of those deals were finalized by the time of the convention. The Lady Death animated movie is on track, running time is now 72 minutes on it. Finally, Gene Simmons of Kiss is the executive producer of the upcoming Evil Ernie movie! CROSSGEN The numbers are out, and CrossGen's sales figures put it as the 5th largest comic company, behind DC, Marvel, Image, and Dark Horse. They are adding a fifth series in November called the First, with pencils by Bart Sears (prelim. pencils for the series look GREAT!) and you can expect to see a CrossGen special in NewComix.Com's September Member Specials. George Perez's series for CrossGen will come out in mid-2001, estimates say. DARKCHYLDE Randy Queen is finally coming back to comics! He did a Darkchylde/Witchblade oneshot for Top Cow (coming out soon) and in October, he starts a new Dreams of the Darkchylde series. Unlike his previous efforts, the first five issues are already DONE! (I've seen them. They look pretty good) This series will come out monthly and should be an interesting read. Look for a NewComix.Com special on this book either in August or September. DARK HORSE COMICS There's a lot of merchandise coming up from Dark Horse that might interest you. They're making a Bettie Page Series II Zippo Lighter set coming out in December, using new technology that actually lets them put photo-quality pictures properly on the Zippo. There are 4 designs in that set. Secondly, expect to see Flash Gordon and Futurama lunch boxes coming out in December. They're working on very high-end Lone Wolf and Cub Action Figures (tall, 12" or more) that could cost over $100 each. There's also a Hellboy Soft Vinyl figure that'll hit Japan and America in early 2001. DC COMICS There was a LOT of new announcements from DC, some of which you've already seen on other sites. The biggest annoucement was new Watchmen products coming out next year to celebrate their 15th anniversary. There will be a deluxe Hardcover along with a 96 page companion book (only available w/the HC) featuring material only found in their first portfolio and other obscure items. In addition, DC is planning a line of Watchmen action figures! The first wave will include the Comedian (with different interlocking heads that reflect his different moods), Silk Spectre, Night Owl, and Dr. Manhattan. More figures will come out later in 2001. Frank Miller is now working on his sequel to The Dark Knight Returns, called the Dark Knight Strikes Again. We were told we can expect to see, among other characters, the Question and the Martian Manhunter, in this new series. They're hoping it'll be ready by summer 2001. Now that Hal Jordan has taken up the mantle of the Spectre, there will be a new ongoing series for the Spectre coming out later this year. Gen 13 is getting a new writer with issue #60 - Adam Warren! Ed Benes will continue to be the artist. Humberto Ramos confirmed that Crimson will end with issue #24. After that, he will assist on other DC projects until his new series, Out There, premieres in mid-2001. Definitely watch for NewComix.Com specials and promotions tied to Crimson's last issue and his other projects. TITLES COMING OUT IN OCTOBER --- Danger Girl #7!!! YEAH! It's about finished, and will be out in October, and NewComix.Com will run a special for this issue in August's catalog. Watch for it! --- Harley Quinn gets her own series, courtesy of Kesel and Dodson. (Potential special for us.) --- Dick Grayson's Robin gets his own Year One series, courtesy of Dixon and Javier Pulido. --- Wildstorm releases its' five annuals, including one with their new character, Magique. Watch for a NewComix.Com special here too. TITLES COMING OUT IN NOVEMBER --- Battle Chasers #7!!!! Wildstorm editor Scott Dunbier said that no matter what has to be done, issue #7 will be ready by November. If we see it in September's catalog, there will be a NewComix.Com special. Humberto Ramos confirmed he already submitted his alternate cover for it a long time ago, so we hope to see it in print as well. (When this issue was initially solicited an eon ago, Campbell and Ramos were going to submit alt covers to this issue, like what happened with Crimson 7 and Danger Girl 6) --- A 5 part miniseries called Batman: Turning Point, examining Batman and Commissioner Gordon's relationship throughout the years, from the beginning until now. Creators working on this series include the Kuberts, Paul Pope and Greg Rucka, and Chuck Dixon and Dick Giordiano. Expect to see NewComix.Com offer a special for this series. JOSEPH MICHAEL LINSNER announced he is doing a one-shot Killraven comic for Marvel, which will make it his *first* official work for Marvel! Dawn: Return of the Goddess #4 should be shipping next month as well, he thought. ONI PRESS Alison Dare is a new series coming out, featuring the little girl of an archaeologist mom and superhero dad. It's Oni's first title geared for all ages, as Alison tries to have her own adventures. Barry Ween 3.0 is coming out in February 2001! It'll be a 6-issue miniseries, the 1st four issues bimonthly, and the last two issues monthly. Expect a 2.0 collection to come out in November. Blue Monday is getting a 2nd series in February 2001. It'll be a 3-issue miniseries featuring a complete story. The Coffin is a sci/fi, superhero 4-issue bimonthly miniseries starting in September. It deals with souls and the afterlife, and has some action as well. Jingle Belle will have a trade paperback in October, collecting her series and Oni Double Feature story. Also, there'll be a one-shot for her in October, w/a cover by Frank Cho (Liberty Meadows) colored by Laura Allred (Madman). The Marquis will be re-solicited and will become a bimonthly series. Artists attached to this book include Mike Mignola (Hellboy) for #2, Charles Vess for #3, Christensen for issue #4, and Kelley Jones (Batman) for issue #5. #2 and 3 are resolicited, #4 will ship in December, and #5 will ship in Feb. 2001. Nocturnals is coming out with a Halloween Girl special this October, printed in Black, White, and Orange. Written by creator Dan Brereton, each story inside will be done by a different artist. (Expect a NewComix.Com special for this issue.) Greg Rucka wants to create a new Whiteout spinoff miniseries using the British spy from Whiteout's 1st series. The series should come out in March, and artists will change each issue. In addition, he wants to create another, untitled, miniseries involving a young art thief. SHI (TUCCI - CRUSADE) Billy Tucci said that Mira Sorvino is no longer the rumored lead for the Shi movie. The studio has decided to stick with an Asian actress and final negotiations were literally being ironed out at the convention. There might be an announcement soon as to who it would be. SLAVE LABOR GRAPHICS Expect a Fillerbunny figure from Jhonan Vasquez. The 2nd Dreadstar collection is shipping in October, with a 12.95 retail price. The third collection should come out in January 2001, and that one will begin to cover the Marvel years of Dreadstar. Finally, they're launching a new quarterly book called Sugar Kat, which starts in September, and is for all ages.
