San Diego Comic Con News
We thought we'd bring you some of the exciting new projects we found out about at this year's San Diego Comic Con!

NEWS ITEMS (Alphabetized by Creator's last name or Company name)

CHAOS COMICS
Insane Clown Posse has a new CD called "Bizarre, Bizarre" coming out
for Halloween w/artwork done by Chaos. Their action figures should also be
available in October. Chaos is working to add SIX more Rock-and-roll
properties to their comics line in the next year, yet none of those
deals were finalized by the time of the convention. The Lady Death
animated movie is on track, running time is now 72 minutes on
it. Finally, Gene Simmons of Kiss is the executive producer of the
upcoming Evil Ernie movie!

CROSSGEN
The numbers are out, and CrossGen's sales figures put it as the 5th
largest comic company, behind DC, Marvel, Image, and Dark Horse. They
are adding a fifth series in November called the First, with pencils by
Bart Sears (prelim. pencils for the series look GREAT!) and you can expect
to see a CrossGen special in NewComix.Com's September Member Specials.
George Perez's series for CrossGen will come out in mid-2001, estimates
say.

DARKCHYLDE
Randy Queen is finally coming back to comics! He did a
Darkchylde/Witchblade oneshot for Top Cow (coming out soon) and in
October, he starts a new Dreams of the Darkchylde series. Unlike his
previous efforts, the first five issues are already DONE! (I've seen
them. They look pretty good) This series will come out monthly and
should be an interesting read. Look for a NewComix.Com special on this
book either in August or September.

DARK HORSE COMICS
There's a lot of merchandise coming up from Dark Horse that might
interest you. They're making a Bettie Page Series II Zippo Lighter set
coming out in December, using new technology that actually lets them put
photo-quality pictures properly on the Zippo. There are 4 designs in
that set. Secondly, expect to see Flash Gordon and Futurama lunch boxes
coming out in December. They're working on very high-end Lone Wolf and Cub
Action Figures (tall, 12" or more) that could cost over $100 each. There's
also a Hellboy Soft Vinyl figure that'll hit Japan and America in early
2001.

DC COMICS
There was a LOT of new announcements from DC, some of which you've
already seen on other sites. The biggest annoucement was new Watchmen
products coming out next year to celebrate their 15th anniversary. There
will be a deluxe Hardcover along with a 96 page companion book (only
available w/the HC) featuring material only found in their first portfolio
and other obscure items. In addition, DC is planning a line of Watchmen
action figures! The first wave will include the Comedian (with different
interlocking heads that reflect his different moods), Silk Spectre,
Night Owl, and Dr. Manhattan. More figures will come out later in 2001.

Frank Miller is now working on his sequel to The Dark Knight Returns,
called the Dark Knight Strikes Again. We were told we can expect to
see, among other characters, the Question and the Martian Manhunter, in
this new series. They're hoping it'll be ready by summer 2001.

Now that Hal Jordan has taken up the mantle of the Spectre, there will
be a new ongoing series for the Spectre coming out later this year.

Gen 13 is getting a new writer with issue #60 - Adam Warren! Ed Benes
will continue to be the artist.

Humberto Ramos confirmed that Crimson will end with issue #24. After
that, he will assist on other DC projects until his new series, Out There,
premieres in mid-2001. Definitely watch for NewComix.Com specials and
promotions tied to Crimson's last issue and his other projects.

long time ago, so we hope to see it in print as well. (When this issue was
initially solicited an eon ago, Campbell and Ramos were going to submit

March, and artists will change each issue. In addition, he wants to
create another, untitled, miniseries involving a young art thief.

SHI (TUCCI - CRUSADE)
Billy Tucci said that Mira Sorvino is no longer the rumored lead for
the Shi movie. The studio has decided to stick with an Asian actress and
